Schwellenbach Family Newborn Session
There is something so meaningful about documenting a family’s first days at home, and this in-home lifestyle newborn session in Charlotte was full of thoughtful details from beginning to end. Before their son was born, these first-time parents chose to keep his gender a surprise, so they designed a beautiful forest green nursery that would feel timeless no matter who they welcomed. The rich green walls created the perfect backdrop for the cozy, moody images they had envisioned.
After spending time in the nursery, we moved into the primary bedroom for a few quiet portraits focused on their sweet baby before heading outside. They had actually been referred to me by friends whose backyard newborn photos they loved, so recreating that relaxed, at-home feeling was important to them. Their backyard offered the perfect setting, complete with a charming bench where we captured a few of my favorite family portraits. We also took advantage of the front steps of their home for a handful of playful, symmetrical portraits inspired by the timeless style of Wes Anderson. And, of course, their sweet pup joined us for part of the session, making it an even more complete reflection of this season of life.
One of my favorite things about in-home newborn photography is that every session is unique to the family. Rather than rushing from one pose to the next, this session unfolded naturally, allowing us to document the spaces, details, and quiet moments that they’ll look back on for years to come.
